Sang and Mi’s Story

Best friends Sang and Mi dreamed of lifting their farming families out of poverty. When illness at home created urgent financial pressure, they made the heartbreaking decision to leave school and accept what seemed like a promising job opportunity. But the offer was a trap. Once inside the car sent to collect them, the driver locked the doors, confiscated their phones, and sped toward the international border. Terrified and unable to contact anyone, the girls realised too late that they were being trafficked.

Years earlier, Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation had trained community members to recognise the warning signs of trafficking. When a neighbour noticed the suspicious vehicle, he alerted authorities, who intercepted the car before it reached the border. Sang and Mi were safely returned home and are now back in school, receiving ongoing psychological support to help them recover and rebuild their futures.
