Caemba builds houses and community centres for low or no income families, using a cost-effective bamboo flat pack housing method. Recipients not only get a safe place to call home but also access to clean water and the land title to give them an opportunity to grow and prosper.
Twenty-five-year-old Sandra Bravo lived with her two young children, her mother, and her brother in a small, deteriorating two-room house with a severely damaged wooden floor. As the primary provider, she earned a modest income painting nails door-to-door, doing everything she could to meet her family’s basic needs. The overcrowded and fragile structure made daily life unsafe and unstable, highlighting the urgent need for a secure and dignified place to live.
Despite the hardship, Sandra never stopped dreaming of a safe home where her children could grow up in comfort and peace. That dream became reality when the Nadia & Alf Taylor Foundation funded the construction of a new home — built for just $500 USD — and ensured Sandra holds full legal title to the land. With security, ownership, and stability now in place, her family has a foundation for a far brighter future.
