At-risk women, Tanzania
Nina Imani provides a 12 month course for women in Tanzania. The course provides technical skills in areas such as hairdressing and beauty services, baking, tailoring and vegetable cultivation. They also provide business training, mentoring, counselling and English education to support these women to secure employment on completion of the course.
Lilian received a study grant from Nina Imani to complete a 12-month part-time tour guiding course at SILA College in Arusha. The support covered tuition, uniforms, books, and safe transport — removing the practical barriers that often prevent young women from accessing further education. As part of her training, she undertook a three-month unpaid placement in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with Nina Imani providing a small stipend so she could continue supporting her family during this critical transition.
Determined to broaden her opportunities, Lilian went on to complete a six-month Hotel Management course at SILA College and was selected for a traineeship at Four Points by Sheraton Arusha while finishing her studies. With additional support to obtain her driver’s licence and first aid certificate, Lilian has strengthened her employability within Tanzania’s tourism sector. She is now actively seeking permanent work while providing nannying services — steadily building experience and income as she pursues long-term stability.
