Adolescent indigenous girls, Peru
Sacred Valley Project supports young girls living in extremely remote areas of the Andes Mountains where there is no access to school. They provide housing, social care, tutoring and life skills to the girls so they can attend school and thrive.
Yulisa comes from a remote part of the Andes where there was no local school, so she moved to live at the Sacred Valley Project in order to access an education. From the outset, her journey required courage and determination. After finishing school, she set her heart on studying Information Systems and spent several months preparing her application to the La Salle Institute in Urubamba — and her hard work paid off. Today, she is proudly completing the first cycle of her degree, stepping confidently into the future she once only imagined.
Now living with her older sister, who is also pursuing her own studies, the two encourage and support one another as they work toward their goals. Yulisa is focused, disciplined, and determined to succeed, and those who know her are confident she will achieve everything she sets out to do. Her story is a powerful testament to resilience and the life-changing impact of access to education.
