SOCIAL ENTERPRISE
How can we effect real change in our world? We believe it can be achieved through the power of social enterprise. By investing in communities and their businesses, we can empower the people we support to be independent and self-sufficient. We support a wide range of projects, including fish farming in Haiti, to training hairdressers, baristas and tradespeople in South Africa.

Caribbean Harvest Foundation
To address both the depopulation of fish in Haiti’s lakes and create employment opportunities for out- of-work fishermen, the Caribbean Harvest Foundation (CHF) set about developing a sustainable solution and in turn created one of the largest solar powered fish hatcheries in the world. As part of this initiative, CHF provides fishlings alongside a cage and enough feed for three months, so fishermen can care for the fish until they are ready to market. At this stage, CHF buys back the fish and sells them to high-scale markets, creating revenue to sustain the project and the community, and generate employment for the fishermen.
How has the Nadia and Alf Taylor Foundation been involved? By helping CHF to upscale its programme to a new location, to incorporate a larger fishing village, situated on the shores of Lake Peligre.

The Sozo Foundation
The Sozo Foundation is committed to tackling widespread ingrained community issues, such as unemployment, poverty, crime / violence, gang affiliation and drug and alcohol abuse by leading a number of projects that facilitate education, skills development and social enterprise in Vrygrond, South Africa.
The Nadia and Alf Taylor Foundation stepped in to support the foundation, with the initiation of the ‘Gang-star’ café; a safe haven where the young and unemployed are encouraged to be creative and learn the art of becoming baristas. Organisations, both in and outside of Vrygrond, also support the programme and offer a number of internships for young adults, guiding them so they are better able to achieve their full potential.
